Gitmo should be closed; I’ve said that for years. It is a red-apple target and one that shines the spotlight on our political/war prisoner problem, never mind the book-club-for-terrorists aspect. That does not mean I want to set those inside to wander off scott free. They should be stringently examined, and disseminated as that examination deems fit. When sex offenders are released, they must yet be monitored; so it may be for Gitmo Grads. For others a stretch in various prisons may be what the doctor orders.

The bone-headed Supreme Court Decision of Ledbetter v. Goodyear is now history. On Wednesday we gave Obama kudos for saying he would restore funding to the U.N. Population Fund (UNFPA). Both he and Clinton had pledged to reverse a Bush administration determination that assistance to the organization violated U.S. law known as the Kemp-Kasten amendment.

Today, we will again grant Obama Kudos for using Ledbetter to assist those most likely to be discriminated against—women and minorities.

I took the measure of George W. Bush before he took office. As Gov. of Texas, Bush was said to have mocked--in high-pitched female voice-- Karla Faye Tucker. (Tucker was an admitted killer with a most troubling past, who was executed by the state of Texas under Bush’s watch.) Bush mocked her attempts to have him grant her a pardon. Tucker Carlson, a very conservative media guy and no relation to Karla, was the one to make this accusation, and never for a minute did I doubt the episode.

A while back FemiSex wrote about a New York Times story titled: “Losses Mount, Fears Overwhelm, a Life-Ending Decision is Made.” The Times article reported on economically despairing men who, before killing themselves, killed their families. I hope you will go back and read our article on this, b/c sadly, the media have again failed to make it clear that the problem in murder suicide is not going broke, fear or whatchmahaveit, but the idea that men OWN their families.

Dump aid to poor women for family planning…just fogetaboutit ladies, 2nd class humans…this is good compromise says O-man, but for land’s sake don’t rid us of grass for the Mall or new cars for government employees or computers for kids so they can web surf.
