An Iranian woman called Hanna cried out for freedom this week. According to the NYTimes she posted this on the website of an Iranian opposition candidate:
“I AM ALIVE BUT MY SISTER WAS KILLED. SHE WANTED THE WIND TO BLOW INTO HER HAIR, SHE WANTED TO BE FREE; SHE WANTED TO HOLD HER HEAD HIGH UP AND SAY: I AM IRANIAN. MY SISTER DIED BECAUSE THERE IS NO LIFE LEFT; MY SISTER DIED BEASUE THERE IS NO END TO THE TYRANNY.”

Why am I hopeful after watching a young woman bleed out after being murdered by Iranian police snipers?
The young girl was doing what has been the purview of men in Muslim societies: protesting.
The young girl was with her father, a father who had not locked her at home with a veil and set of instructions to keep out of all things male, a father who was proud to have a daughter brave enough to call for democracy and a voice in that democracy!

With a looming 9 trillion dollar deficit, one can imagine why Obama might not want to get tangled up on torturous talk about torture. Yet….
On the stump Obama talked the talk about torture; boy of boy, did he hate that torture shit. Compare and contrast Obama then to Obama now, now… when what he says actually counts.
