Sexism is so freakn’ complicated. It roots itself in our pores and oozes out of us when we are not looking, even when we are actively trying to fight the devil that is sexism. FemiSex has long railed at liberal sexism exhibited by our comics. The fact that our cultural arbiters are “funny” men and women for whom racism is off limits but sexism is manna from heaven is one of the ways that sexism lives in our subcutaneous layers. Our culture sensitivities are so hard to flesh out and flush away.

Why DOES the out-of-touch, sexist media find Sl*t acceptable?
It is astonishing. Call a woman a slut, a sitting governor no less, and the media comes to the rescue of the bigot. Call a woman a whore, a sitting senator no less, and…well, here it was the media themselves doing the name calling. (See Randi Rhodes of Air America or.. CNN, the New York Times or Salon for other bigoted comments about women.)
The dysfunction of our national media is beyond comprehension.

Sometimes I come across a letter from a reader that makes me want to cry, albeit this woman journo has not shed a tear in many long years in abject quaking fear that Missy Dowd will fine me for playing up the pert possibilities of my female peeps.
