Theft a Hate Crime, but not rape!

File this under 2nd Class Citizens: women. The Times, reported this week that Queens prosecutors are charging two young women who swindled old men out of their money after pretending to romance them, with...a hate crime. Really. Elderly men who fell for the absurd idea that young women would want anything but their money. Of course, just try telling a man of a certain age that if a much younger women engages in romance with him it is because of "other" considerations, most often financial considerations in some form or another.

Can Tea Partiers avert America the Greece?

If you read the Times coverage of the Great Greek Meltdown, you will know that “last year, Greece’s deficit equaled 12.7% of gross domestic product.”
If you read the coverage of U.S. debt you will know that due to massive spending (Bush first, Obama doubled down and then tripled down) we are on target to “boost the federal debt to more than 65% of gross domestic product NEXT year.”
And....

Conan Bests Letterman, Bad Journalism at teh NYTimes, and Missy Dowd dives off the Deep End-again.

The Good News:
According to the NYTimes, Conan O'Brien has captured the youth audience that advertisers drool over. Letterman is little more than an Old Folks Home for sexists, bigot and misogynists!
Conan socks Letterman.

The Bad News:
The misguided editors at teh NYTimes can't figure out which story is Front Page news.

Gerrymandering by the White House

From the Times:

Senator Judd Gregg of New Hampshire abruptly withdrew Thursday as the nominee for commerce secretary, saying he had “irresolvable conflicts” with President Obama over his economic stimulus plan and a concern over what many fellow Republicans believe is the politicization of the 2010 census.

Time was (during Bush years) the New Yorker did a long form article about the dangers of politicizing the census, redistricting, and gerrymandering.
From the New Yorker piece:

Two items today: Jeers to Ann Hathaway and also the Times editors for denigrating black female teenagers.

First up a Jeer Quote by Ann Hathaway. Last night on David Letterman, Hathaway gushed this:
“It is so exciting to say we have a great man in office.”

She then gushed that the best job she could imagine would be to babysit for the Mr. Obama.
Hathaway has a movie opening up today that from all the trailers I’ve seen shows women at their very worst—in exactly the way that keeps us from working together in real life—in mortal combat against one another. The Boys Club is safe. Women are still competitive rancids to one another. Jeers to you Missy Hathaway!
