FemiSex: Contrast with Palin Effigy:
-----------------From the La Times:
"Offensive as it may be, the Palin doll -- outfitted with beehive wig, glasses and a vintage Neiman Marcus red coat dress -- appears to violate no law, said officials of the Secret Service, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and the West Hollywood city Code Enforcement Division.

"The sheriff made this clear: This is a country that has freedom of speech, and we protect that right even when we think it's idiotic and stupid and in bad taste," said Steve Whitmore, spokesman for the Sheriff's Department.

"If it is nonviolent and doesn't cause any problems, then they have the right to do it."

FemiSex to readers: Please note that no pictures are posted by the news media of the Obama effigy, but every story posted on Palin effigy came replete with pictures. NO ARREST WAS MADE in the Palin effigy. No statement from Mr. Whitmore about the opening wounds of violence done to females in the longs history of violence agaisnt females in the USA. (Psst, perhaps rape victims magically forget the crimes committed against them, the fingers grasping at their throats, psst Mr. Whitmore take note, violence was done here! Psst, Mr. Whitemore, would you dare say the same if you were dealing with Obama effigy? No Harm No Foul only poor taste? )

Femisex deplores Both effigies But…Now it the Time for women to make the Palin effigy their primary cause. Women need to put violence against women at the top of their agenda until this societal ill recedes! Now is the time to remind folks like Steve Whitemore that violence against women, unlike violence against blacks, has not precipitously declined. Hundreds of thousands of rapes in the U.S. every year are perpetrated against women. Domestic violence pock-marks American culture. NOW is the Time to focus on Female HATE CRIMES.

I leave you all with the nice-told tale of violence against women—a Long Island husband arrested this week for garroting his wife and then crying sadly before the cameras in a plea to help find the “killers.”

Your femisex column exposes

Your femisex column exposes more and more each day. Keep up the good reporting!

I thought it was ok to trash

I thought it was ok to trash women that NOW and other feminist groups trash daily.
My bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am a male, the brother of

I am a male, the brother of three good sisters, and the son of a loving mother. I, too, cannot imagine why an offensive act against a black man's image would be punished while an equally terrible action against the image of a white woman would go without the same consequences. Violence against gender is just as hideous as violence driven by race; both exist and both corrupt the human heart. To any in authority who read this, please consider what message these two events send, and the lack of consequences against one might inspire.

Both displays were

Both displays were reprehensible. Both displays have drawn extensive media coverage. Fox had the photos of at least one of the Obama displays, so I don't know where you're looking but they are out there.

Criminal charges were filed against the people involved in the Obama display -- not as a hate crime but for theft of materials used to make the display.

It doesn't have to be about the feminist or racial agenda. Don't give these idiotic displays more traction than they deserve. Like my mom used to say "Consider the source" and move on.

Hi anonymous: do a google

Hi anonymous:
do a google search on Obama effigy and Palin effigy and u will immediately see the difference in coverage. almost every msm item includes the picture of Palin at the end of noose, i did not see a single item that shows Obama dangling.
I believe the coverage of Obama was correct! Don't show such rot.
BUT I BELIEVE THE COVERAGE OF PALIN INCORRECT. There is NO need to showcase the hate and the message of violence in either case. But MSM has INDEED chosen to show Palin dangling! This is a no brainer.

Yep consider the source is true, but sadly we are all a product of the culture in which we live. When we become inured to femicide this is indeed a problem and the souce here is MSM broadcasting pictures that are incendiary!
Re the arrested for other things: well that doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure out the lengths the law goes to send a message.

I was thrilled to see this

I was thrilled to see this post! I work at a domestic violence org and this is something I've long wanted to see-- Feminists calling for Hate Crime to be applied to violence against women. It is absurd the double standard cited above. Clearly America views racism as worse than sexism! This needs change! Sexism should take no backseat to racism, and women would benefit to a massive degree if they accepted this and fought for recognition that rape is a Hate Crime!!

the women's movement is long

the women's movement is long overdue to focus on women first and minority rights second. I have not heard a lot from the naacp over sexism but feminist groups seem to focus as much on minority rights and racisim as sexism. no one is saying racisim is not taboo, but I do think women need to let the many black-focused groups continue to keep racsim as the primary focus while women's groups need to put sexism and misogyny front and center.
I have not heard nearly enough from NOW and Feminist Majority about sexism in this campaign, and web groups like Feministing seem more concerned with slights agasint Obama than sexism and misogyny against either Ms. Clinton or Ms. Palin.
