Economic segregation is not racial segregation

It is infuriating when progressives incite class warfare and what better way to do so that by insisting race not economics determine the fabric of a neighborhood. There is nothing more American than working very hard to be able to afford a nice home. Pretending that blacks or Hispanics are kept out of Westchester neighborhoods (as Salon does today) because of racism is sickening. If you can afford to live in the upscale neighborhoods of Westchester you can. Period.

Black, Blue or Green. But insisting that poor minority groups are shipped into your neighborhood and paid to be there by your taxes while undermining the value of your property is ...more communism than socialism and certainly not capitalism.

Salon wingnut writer David Denvir charges Westchester wants to preserve the racially divided status quo. NO wingnut, they want to preserve what is FAIR. You only get to live in a Park Ave. classic 6 building if you can afford to buy an apartment in the building and likewise you only get to live in a upscale hood if you can afford to buy there. Section 8 housing is not wanted and nor should it be!

Can you imagine the hoots if government decided to declare a couple of floors in the better co-op of New York as section 8 housing or just forced the building bring in minority low income folks...for diversity's sake? Of course not!
I can say for sure that if you have the money to live in upscale Westchester you can buy there. Period.
Cut the BS! Stop the class warfare. Stop inisiting that we all live in communal housing and give up your communist dream. This is America and we buy what and where we can afford no matter who we are or what we look like. Stop removing incentives to hard work.

Wingnut Denvir says:
So Westchester became very entrenched as a middle-class and rich community." as though that is a terrible thing.

But... Westchester is like anywhere else; the more successful cluster together and that is not a bad thing. Successful blacks, Hispanics and Blue people are all welcome to buy anywhere they can afford to buy. Stop peeing on the American Dream.

San Francisco has a huge problem with lack of young school-age kids from economically upwardly mobile families in the city. hmmm, wonder why that is.

Barack H. Obama is a dangerous person. I've come to believe he is pathological in terms of his us against the rich mentality. That he is the rich just makes it all the more odd. Personally I think he hates rich Westerners but plays nice to themin order to have the bully pulpit to wage class war on them. Obama is clearly anti Western. Just look at who we wants out of power. Any anti Western dictator in Middle East can stay . ProWestern ones get the Whitehouse foot up the rear.

Taxes are also a huge issue

Taxes are also a huge issue here. If section 8 housing is built in upscale neighborhoods (where taxes on a $750,000 1,700 square foot house can easily be 15 grand as is) taxes will skyrocket even more so to pay for schooling for those who cannot contribute. Crowding schools and pricing out the middle and even upper middle class families in these neighborhoods. It's appalling.

It's good to know there is some sanity left. One person said that this sort of skewed reasoning by liberals makes it very hard from him to argue the liberal point of view. Total over reach was the consensus.
