Half of Turkish doctors force young girls legs apart to inspect her virginity status

In the world of political correctness FemiSex is often asked not to single out the Muslim culture for sexist behaviours. Even BlogHer –a women’s publishing network—has restricted our message on this issue. But injustice can only be corrected with free speech and speech is not defamatory if it is true (or opinion)….thus…we offer this from a recent JAMA study: In Turkey, doctors have been asked by schools and state institutions to verify a female's virginity-with nearly half of Turkish physicians in a survey saying they have performed such examinations.

And…in Egypt, where men suspected of having gay sex have been forced to undergo anal inspections by doctors from the Forensics Medical Authority, an agency of Egypt's Ministry of Justice.

The article is a pretty good one and address the issue of human rights abuses in medicine globally. In an effort to make sure the U.S. is not overlooked for our human rights abuses the authors include:

in North Dakota, the state outlawed an approved pill for first-trimester abortions, which then forced doctors to perform a surgical abortion-even though most physicians would say a drug is safer and less intrusive, Rubenstein says. (A state court recently issued a temporary injunction against this law.)
--------------------------------------------
The above is an anti-choice example of laws the restrict the right of safe medical care to women and should rightly be filed under human rights abuses. But we have a DEMOCRAT president who in his FIRST major address as potus stated VERY clearly that abortion is NOT a human rights issue.
And if you want to worry about restricting medical choice for women and their doctors where are the DNC protests to the Supreme Court Decision on Carhart v. Gonzales.
The party was overrun with Blue Dogs--anti-choice pro spend, Dems.
And then there was the egregious Obama first act as president-elect: Obama put a VERY anti-choice man (Tim Kaine) in the lead position at the DNC. So cry me a river over the fate of abortion rights in this country where the Dems would be lost without it. How else will they get the female vote if not to keep abortion a contested procedure.

Re the Jama item and women's rights and where the US is as opposed to Turkey or Iran or various other Muslim dominate cultures....

we must talk about the continuum here. We do restrict abortion in this country under Roe v. Wade and that is not on the same level as forcing a young girls legs apart to look at her hymen or lack thereof. And don’t even get me started on anal inspections or police beating you for showing ...gasp...your face or hair or knees!
