If ONLY women were as smart as this little boy

From BV Black Spin:

Too often, as a society, we insult our young people, labeling them as a lost generation. Here's a young man who has taken leadership in to his 11-year-old hands.

"Jonathan E. McCoy gave a rousing speech earlier this year to his church in Baltimore about why our community needs to drop the 'N' word. His speech, "A New Petition," called for the discontinuation of that six-letter word, and the slang usage of the word.

"I'm sending a message to everyone who knowingly or ignorantly uses this word to describe our people, whether you're a gangster rapper who uses it to communicate with your boys, or someone who looks down on us who haven't got a college education," said the pint-sized orator. "Whatever the case, it's time to discontinue the use of this word. It is implausible that 40 years after the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., we still use this word that holds no worth in our lives nor our future."

-----------------------------------------------
I would LOVE to see women band together to call for the eradication of the B word, the S word and the W word. Can anyone imagine the shining beauty of a world for women that does not include the words bitch, slut and whore?
This brave, smart, self-respecting little boy gets what so many women do not: it is never empowering to denigrate yourself with base language whose only intention is to bring low a particular group of people. Calling yourself a nigger is as stupid as calling yourself a bitch.

Hats off to you McCoy. I would love to see him ask for the same respect paid to women by removing the B, W, S words from rap music, but heck he watches TV nightly and is as inured to those depredations against women as women themselves have become!

Yeah, we know, it is "implausible" that McCoy didn't get a bit of coaching. But who cares! It is a great message. I hope that his coach has taught him that black women deserve the same respect he is asking for black men. A rap song that says "Yo you ugly bitch, get down on this," is no better than one that says "Hey nigga."

good point. where is the

good point. where is the girl child to take up the cause for ending abusive behavior to her sex? whenever little girls are alloted a moment of glory is is always because they are asking for help for others not themselves. this little boy is asking for help for himself. this is a pattern women must break. we are allowed to ask for things for ourselves.

Off topic but I'd like to

Off topic but I'd like to just let everyone know about this petition condemning the Hollywood assholes who are supporting Polansky.

In the meantime: Send the cracker to Jail !
Hollywood has it ass backwards when it comes to women and this is just another example of their sexism.

I LOVE your writing style.

"Send the Cracker to Jail!"

Love it.

Ditto. I adore the snappy

Ditto. I adore the snappy engaged style. The writing is sharp but what brings me back is how unpredictable the politics. I can never assume a surefire liberal or conservative position. This is the centered position I wish journalists at large corporations took. It is boring me to tears to always know in advance the tone of bias of a writer.

The google ad that pops up

The google ad that pops up with this story is very telling. It asks: "How Prejudiced is America?"
The picture that accompanies it is of the back of a black man with a tattoo over his shoulder blades.

I would keel over dead if I saw a google ad that was polling the question: How sexist is America? or How misogynistic is America?

Telling, very telling. Evidently we as so sexist we have not even evolved to asking that question on a mainstream basis.

Smart Post. When we were

Smart Post. When we were kids, we used to play a game, why are you hitting yourself? Umhm, you know the one. Co-opting the n or b words is just an adult extention of that childhood game.
