New Yorker's anti-woman agenda in The Right Stuff by sexist writer Connie BruckMonday, July 19, 2010 at 11:40 am — admin
Ok, so you say, MSM is not anti-woman, just anti-Republican woman. Then how does one explain the piece in the New Yorker by anti-woman (pro-Obama) writer Connie Bruck that paints Republican Carly Fiorina as a nasty B woman who is using her devil tactics against angelic Republican Tom Campbell? It is hard to find a better example of sexist writing than this article--an article that women's studies classes should use to showcase liberal sexism in every class room in the country! To wit: .... Fiorina is "mocking Campbell as a perennial office seeker" ..yes the woman MOCKS for telling the truth about the reality of Campbell's status as a career politician. But....the sexist writer Bruck cherry picks a quote to defend the Red dude saying "Tom Campbell really understands how government works" and then Bruck herself defends his position saying "being both an expert in government and a believer in limiting it is no way inconsistent..." The sexist Bruck says Carly Fiorina "looking steely and battle-ready..." blah blah blah...resorting to the craven and every so tired and prosaic Bi%ch or bimbo routine that liberal media uses to slam women. Steely and battle ready is the woman but "Campbell is a rarity in political life: someone whoo insists, politely, on staying true to his own beliefs." Now kids, this is not a quote from a sympathetic friend, no this is ahhhhmmm...the so-called journalist's (Connie Bruck) own words. Yes, over and over we are told by this bigoted writer and the friends of Campbell that he is a "nice guy." And we are told repeatedly in straight talk and innuendo that Carly is the big bad wicked B woman who wants female power and MUST be stopped. She, like Hillary, is being mean to the dude who should have the top spot. Here are more outrageous sexists attacks on Fiorina: "she concentrated her attacks on Boxer..." but when Campbell took the lead... Note the attack dog wording. Rather than write that Fiorina turned her attention TO him, the writer conjures attack dog visions in readers heads, using ON him. Fiorina was "widely ridiculed" says writer Bruck. Now to defend Campbell for the truth of his being a career politician at a time when that is really really bad (Obama used the same tactic towards Hillary, remember..., but hey he's a cool black due and she is the wicked woman who wanted power so THAT was OK with these freaky liberal women )and to upend Fiorina as a newbie to the running for office (a big plus these days), Bruck writes : "Fiorina, like a practiced politician..." Now the entire piece is the practiced art of sublimal sexism: punish a woman for playing politics. Why? Well because that is the male domain. And trust me, Campbell is hardball far more so than Fiorina, BUT here is how the bigot and sexist Bruck protects Campbell for attacking Fiorina: "The Campbell campaign has issued it own ASSESSMENT of Fiorina's management of H-P. The Book on Carly is an online dossier on Fiorina compiled from books and magazines....in the past month, a new 'chapter' has been sent by e-mail every few days {during the campaign} The book includes a video prologue, which does not make her sound {like a decent person}." Campbell's Book on Carly contains dozens of vicious slams on Fiorina, but remember, according to sexist writer Bruck, these are not attacks by Campbell but ASSESSMENTS." Bruck takes the time to list every nasty slam to Fiorina that Campbell came up with but NEVER admits that he is acting like a politician going negative and doing Attack ads. No, the entire article is paen to Mr. Nice Guy getting beat up by the big bad Bi%Ch. Now, as much as I hate to recommend reading the Bruck story, it is a must! But what is REALLY sad is the uttter lack of talent displayed by Bruck in her demented rush to shit all over women who want the right to play the same hardball politics as men. This article is worthy of a teenager in love defending her boyfriend. Mostly it is just sad, overt sexism. Ok, kids..the New Yorker has blocked me (and all readers) from a quick copy and paste of examples of sexism from their story, sorry...Their shame must be massive! |

I took your advice and read
I took your advice and read the piece. It is almost beyond belief. The writer --connie Bruck--is every woman's worst nightmare of a female boss. She is the woman who finds herself to be outstanding but won't tolerate another queen bee in HER hive.
The story actually frightens me. Bruck has a woman problem, big time!
I want David Remnick to be
I want David Remnick to be pushed out, but I have no idea how to make that happen.
That's like asking the
That's like asking the Catholic Church to allow women to be ordained. Tina Brown saved the magainze for Hachett and now Remnick reaps her rewards.
I would place money on the
I would place money on the fact that Connie Bruck is liberal Jewish writer living in a big city and has traded her female soul to liberal dude nation. I live and work in New York among the mindset of the liberal Jewish woman and in my view these women are as unthinking in their devotion to male media mindsets as Southern women were to Bush's world view. It turns these women into infants really. I know because I was once one of these urban creatures and wanted to please the crowd with which I traveled. It wasn't until 2008 that I realized how deeply anti-woman my female Jewish counterparts were down deep. Each thinks of herself as the brainy Jew, but put a male Jew in the room and watch the deferential treatment and body language. I was pretty shocked to realize that my Jewish elite friends were just as dutiful to patriarchy as any Southern Republican belle.
As someone who understands
As someone who understands jealousy (boy do I remember my college days) I am going to make a huge over-generalizing statement: women do not compare themselves to other men as they do to other women. So taking down another woman is far more gleeful then taking down a man.
The writer is jealous. Jealous, jealous, jealous. In her own world she probably enjoys the bit of power she has achieved and enjoys hanging out with the boys. Women who try and achieve a bit of power above and beyond what the writer has achieved? B*tches. B*tches unless the "power hungry" woman happens to be a controlled BFF of the writer in which case that is okay because the power is somehow shared in those few cases.
Great article and I am so so tired of this. What shall I do? Contact the New Yorker? Where should activism take us?
i think contacting the New
i think contacting the New Yorker is a waste of time, and that Remnick is like Meacham, full of love of sexism. So...I'd just circulate this story and let folks see how we are treated by the women who men hire to hate on women.
Short but still good post!
Short but still good post! Identify that Liberal Dems FAR prefer a Republican man to a grossly ambitious evil manipulative Republican b*tch sends a very important message! It's not a Repub problem it's a woman problem!

Comment From Wired for Sexism:
Hi Alison-- I started out to do a guest post for FemiSex but ended up turning it back to the site editors. I wanted to do a copy and paste of a few telling grafs to show the sexism but the site blocks subscribers from copy and paste options. I guess they have not head of Fair Use at the magazine. They must be afaid of exactly this type of story.
I think FS editors did a great job of showing the gross sexism this magazine exhibits in a very civilized manner.
And you comment is a nice summation of the issue at hand!
