After the SNL skit on the Clinton/Obama debates freed Hillary to complain about always being asked debate questions first, the press had a heyday with her for whining. Talking Heads said Clinton whined about this and the Print crowd snided on her as well.
The press (Obama’s Outreach Group) JUST Wouldn’t allow anyone to point out the obvious—they favored Obama and found myriad ways to elevated him against Senator Clinton—an example being giving HRC the first question most of the time in debates.
The Press adamantly refused to admit the obvious advantage to getting a question AFTER the other candidate had answered—especially in a same-party debate. (The press liked to say that Clinton and Obama differed little on the issues—hmm, yeah, b/c in the debates, as we so often witnessed, Obama just said DITTO after Clinton gave her thoughtful answer. Or, in the case of Heath Care, Obama found a point he could attack her on (adult mandates) and essentially copied her health care plan except with mandate for kids only. It was hilarious in the Town Hall Debate last week to watch McCain attack Obama on his mandate position, just as Obama had done to HRC. )
Now as always FemiSex likes to catch the Press with its pants down and misogyny spilling out, so with the above preview….here is what the NYTimes had to say about First Questions in a debate when it is applied to Palin:
---------------------------------------
“…she {Palin} fared much better at Thursday’s debate, where half of the questions were posed first to Mr. Biden — which, in turn, meant that Ms. Palin had 90 seconds to prepare her answer or riposte.
-----------------------------------------
NOW…..Here is what they wrote last winter about Hillary’s complaint of First Question:
--------------------------------------------
"And in the one-on-one debate last Thursday, she {Hillary} received the first question on the overwhelming majority of topics and thus spoke first about twice as often as he did.
In the course of the 20 Democratic presidential primary debates so far, Mr. Obama has occasionally received the first question. On Jan. 5, for example, the debate opened with a question to Mr. Obama about whether he stood by his support for a United States military strike in Pakistan if its government failed to act against an identified terrorist target.
Some might wonder if receiving the first question is an advantage or disadvantage.
-------------------
hahahahahaha says FemiSex:
NO, New York Times…what WE wonder is why you are so BIASED, so unwilling to show that second question status is an advantage for Obama, when you are VERY willing to say it is an advantage for a Woman candidate.
The Press will get away with this Bias UNTIL the majority of Women disallow it.
Ladies, the NEXT Question is in Your Court? Will we allow this?
Yes this is just one of death by 1000 cuts, but women ARE getting smarter, and even if they are not voting for HRC or Palin, only those unwilling to vote for any woman ever, should not sit up straight and call the Times out on this example of bias.
A woman gets the question second at a one to one ratio and the Times calls it an Obvious advantage; Obama gets the question second at a two to one ratio (thus he was allowed to wait until after HRC answered an “overwhelming majority” of the time) and the Times scratches its butt.
I bet u all can remember being very happy in Miss Smith’s third grade class when she called on the other guy first; it always gave one time to hone one’s answer, or copy some version of theirs if u’d been lazy the night before. This is not tuff stuff, Times.
Bias BE THY Name!
