Shame on Glen Beck but three Cheers for Tea PartySunday, August 29, 2010 at 2:09 pm — admin
Glen Beck, Fox's counterpart to MSNBC's Keith Olbermann, has the first amendment right to gather folks on the day and sight of Martin Luther King's glorious "I Have a Dream Speech," but...the hell he should Not! The funny thing is...the Left while telling 70% of Americans they are bigots and racists and nasty unwashed people for not wanting Islamoland anywhere near the epicenter of a massive slaughter committed by lunatics in the name is Islam...the Left (in this instance NYTime's Windbag Bob Herbert) has this to say about Beck: Well, true Bob. Co-opting the site and date of MLK's foremost speech on civil rights was incendiary. But can anyone tell me that the foul mouth of the Left Media-- in calling anyone who opposes Vast Government Expansion and massive unchecked expansion of Medicaid (the most broken system on the planet) and the triumphant placement of a MEGA-mosque at the site where radical Islamists TWICE attacked what they found to be the heart of evil in the Twin Towers, racist and bigots and un-American--can anyone say the Bob Herbert and the Obama crowd are any less incendiary? Herbert, who btw likened the female Gov. of Alaska to a murder and rapist, and now now calls Beck execrable, is himself the most execrable of creatures. Both Beck and Herbert are doing just fine playing with their miserable matches of ignition. BUT...Beck and Herbert are just Media Clowns. Mr. Obama sees himself above the role of mere president of the United States. Mr. Obama sees himself as President of the World and his worry is less about American solvency than his particular abstractions of a perfect world order. The Tea Partiers can be fully excused for understanding that America needs a president who does not fancy himself Above the "mere" role of national interests. The Tea Partiers understand than an insolvent America will spell disaster for the world, both ours and far beyond our borders. The Tea Party folks are men and women of all political stripes who have a message of responsibility, much like MLK's message of responsibility. However!!!!!: Co-opting MLK's day is taboo, even for such a fine message. Respect is due and really so easy to give. The rally struck me as fairly powerful. Those people are racists any more than everyone else (we all have some racism in us--call it affinity for tribe) but ordinary citizens who are feel betrayed by their leaders. It was a wonderful exercise in democracy. Yeah Beck is a blowhole.
More important:
Where have the leaders of our country gone. We just have a bunch of blunders in the White House. And to listen to Obama talk about the war in Iraq as something he has accomplished will be the joke of the decade!
Watching the rally on
Watching the rally on Saturday, I couldn't help but think what a egomaniacal windbag Beck is - and how offensive his gratuitous and excessive use of the word "Man" was. God forbid he should use other words like "citizen" or "human" or "person" or "American" etc. Nope. He was just talking to men apparently. Beck is an asshole imo.
I couldn't have been prouder of the great people who showed up there on the Mall to represent responsible citizenry, however. What a fantastic turnout - and what a wonderful crowd it was.
Three cheers for consistency!
Three cheers for consistency! Amazing how hard it is to come by, isn't it???
sadly amazing, yes.

Rich is the pot calling the kettle black!
The freaking nerve. Rich and the media "elite" who accuse anyone who didn't vote for Obama of being an uneducated racist.
Rich's column is the main factor in why I cancelled my subscription to the Times almost a year ago.
