Things to know about: UN report raises alarm over boom in world's population
A UN forecast estimates that the global population will increase from about 7 billion to 10.1 billion by 2100, making it more difficult to provide food, water, energy, education and jobs for the world's poor. "We are raising the alarm that even though the population of the world has reduced its growth rate enormously, current growth rates are too high," said the director of the population division of the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs

Ah, FemiSex's slogan of Educate before you Procreate is so relevant. Information of of the UN report also states that women in developing countries are not curbing their procreation even as more of the children are surviving childhood thanks to Western intervention. We need to do more that shove food, water and meds down their throats: we need to hold them to the standard that one should not have more children than one can provide for in this life and that women should strive to become equal members of society so they have more to do than make babes to feed that they can't afford to feed.
That doesn't mean we abandon women in their hour of need:
From the UN:
"According to the World Health Organization some 1,500 women die from pregnancy- or childbirth-related complications everyday. Most of these deaths occurred in developing countries, and most were avoidable."
Secretary Clinton announced a new public-private partnership to improve maternal health outcomes by using mobile phone technology. Super model (and film director!) Christy Turlington Burns was also on hand for the new venture, called the Mobile Alliance for Maternal Action (MAMA). The $10 million partnership between USAID, the UN Foundation’s mHealth Alliance, Johnson & Johnson and Baby Center, LLC will seed programs that help expecting mothers in the developing world gain easier access to maternal health information and services.
From the UN Foundation:
Mobile health messages are able to quickly and easily disseminate information that will inform women of ways to care for themselves during pregnancy, dispel myths and misconceptions, highlight warning signs, connect women with local health services, reinforce breast feeding practices, explain the benefits of family planning, and make new mothers aware of how best to care for their babies.

Go Hillary!
And now from the BBC
A study by US scientists has concluded that an average of 48 women and girls are raped every hour in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Even these new, much higher figures still represent a conservative estimate of the true prevalence of sexual violence because of chronic underreporting due to stigma, shame, perceived impunity, and exclusion of younger and older age groups as well as men," she added.
the report said sexual violence was also widespread outside the conflict zones of eastern DR Congo.
The BBC's Thomas Hubert in Kinshasa says the study is in line with earlier reports that found sexual violence was spreading outside of war zones and into DR Congo's civilian society.

Well well, well, not perhaps Ed Schultz has been to the Congo calling the women he does not like Sluts and granting men in the Congo tacit approval to rape and demean women they don't like.
and now from Toronto Star and AP
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has vowed to crack down on honor killings in the wake of a murder that has sparked international condemnations. Twenty-year-old Aya Baradiya was murdered by her uncle because he did not approve of a potential suitor. Abbas has already vetoed laws this week that would have guaranteed sentences for honor killings to six months or less
huh--Six months or less for offing a female who has pissed you off? What about egging this behavior on by the estimable Ed Schultz of MSNBC or Bill Maher of HBO. YUck!
And here is something that will tell you all WHY to vote for women of any political leaning:
Suha Arafat, Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat’s widow, emerged from self-imposed seclusion to praise Abbas. Speaking in an interview with the Associated Press, she said she tried to persuade her husband many times to take such a step, but was told the Palestinian people faced other pressing problems that needed to be dealt with first.
Oh, yeah just ask Obama who had the same message for his Muslim brothers in Cairo when he promised not to interfere on telling women how to act socially.
Yuck!

How awful . Both cops got off
How awful . Both cops got off for raping that inebriated woman in New York. Rapes are up 25% in New York this year.
what was done to that poor
what was done to that poor girl during the rape trial was a crime in itself. even if the cops did not do it (and i believe they did) there was no call for that. i believe women's media center did a story on this.
