The year of Outrageous Media Whitewash--LA Times, Washington Times, the National Journal all say: MSM is acting in concert to elect Obama.

From LA Times columnist Jonah Goldberg : The press corps “sees itself as the publicity arm of the Obama campaign.”

From the Washington Times by Tony Blankley, on op/ed that charges the media with failure to perform as journalists, instead acting in concert to elect Obama:

“The mainstream media have gone over the line and are now straight-out propagandists for the Obama campaign.”

And this GREAT kicker :
“The public will be voting based on the idealized image of the man {Obama} who never was. If he wins, however, we will be governed by the sunken, cynical man Obama really is. ONE CAN ONLY HOPE THAT THE SENIOR JOURNALISTS WILL BE JUDGED AS HARSHLY FOR THEIR PROFESSIONAL MISCONDUCT AS WALL STREET'S LEADERS CURRENTLY ARE FOR THEIR FAILINGS.”

From the National Journal:
THE MEDIA CAN NO LONGER BE TRUSTED TO PROVIDE ACCURATE AND FAIR CAMPAIGN REPORTING AND ANALYSIS.

From Jennifer Rubin in an essay for Real Clear Politics:

“But he {McCain} is also fighting for his life: against a media establishment dedicated to his political destruction....

"Any pretense of fairness by the mainstream media is gone. The MSNBC duo of anchor buffoons have been downgraded but not fired. ….We saw the oozing condescension of normally mild-mannered Charlie Gibson in his Palin interview. Assuring Palin he was using a direct quote (he was not) to accuse her of believing her son was on "task form God…"

Rubin’s fine kicker:
“If they{the media} fail in their mission to revive the candidacy of their favorite son, the major newspapers and television networks will have to justify their own conduct, repair reputations and mend fences and convince news consumers they still matter. Good luck with that.”

Femisex adds that either way, win or lose, American is in deep trouble, b/c the very thing that underpins democracy—a free and Objective Press Corps—has suffered such significant damage this election season that citizens are left as bereft as though the media were a State controlled entity.

I leave you with two items from this Monday’s New York Times... a bit of du jour Obama bias by the OLD Gray LADY with penis envy:

First up, this story (“Loan Titans Paid McCain Adviser Nearly $2 million”) that unleashes the Times fury on McCain for stating that Obama tapped Fannie Mae’s former chief executive, Franklin Raines for economic advice.

This is an excerpt from the Times piece:
“But last week the McCain campaign stepped up a running battle of guilt by association when it began broadcasting commercials trying to link Mr. Obama directly to the government bailout of the mortgage giants this month by charging that he takes advice from Fannie Mae’s former chief executive, Franklin Raines, an assertion both Mr. Raines and the Obama campaign dispute.”

One would think after reading this that the McCain camp simply invented the connection btw Raines and Obama. The Times doesn’t bother to put in this vital bit of information: That Raines HIMSELF said Obama called him for advice on several occasions. This was reported by a quote from Raines in the Washington Post. So before Raines didn’t advise Obama—Raines did.

All the Times need say is a one sentence qualification …. that Raines himself has offered conflicting accounts of his relationship with Obama.

But the Times Skipped out on that vital piece of information then rushed headlong into publishing its account of a McCain adviser’s financial ties to Freddie and Fannie, while failing mentioning the Deep financial ties that Obama has to both Freddie and Fannie. (The Times pointed out that both Obama and McCain have donors and advisors who are tied to the companies…but Failed to mention that Obama wins that competition hands down in terms of $ connected to Obama from Freddie an Fannie folks!)

Then……. In another story a few pages later, another example of Times assisting Obama by another act of omission: “ 2 Candidates Urge Greater Oversight in Bailout Plan”
excerpt:
“Mr. McCain also stuck by his support for allowing workers to invest a portion of their Social Security payroll taxes in stocks and bonds, an approach that Democrats call privatization and that Mr. Obama has used to suggest Mr. McCain would subject retirees to excessive market risk.”

But, and this is a significant but, .......the Times FAILS TO MENTION THE OUTLANDISH DISTORTION Obama used in suggesting McCains plan would subject retirees to risk. ( See below correction from Fact Check.org.)

The Times jumps over every hoop to defend Obama from McCain attacks, but they seem to join in when Obama attacks, in this case by omission if not commission.
Remember a surgeon can be equally sued for an act of commission as well as an act of omission. Forgetting the tell the patient about serious risk is an act of omission and one that can easily result in malpractice.

From Fact Check.org (An organization with liberal leanings except in matters of sexism) this statement on Obama’s claims :

"He {Obama} tells Social Security recipients their money would now be in the stock market under McCain's plan. False."

Link: http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/obamas_social_security_whopper.html

Excerpt: "In Daytona Beach, Obama said that "if my opponent had his way, the millions of Floridians who rely on it would've had their Social Security tied up in the stock market this week." He referred to "elderly women" at risk of poverty, and said families would be scrambling to support "grandmothers and grandfathers.

"That's not true. The plan proposed by President Bush and supported by McCain in 2005 would not have allowed anyone born before 1950 to invest any part of their Social Security taxes in private accounts. All current retirees would be covered by the same benefits they are now."

So while the Times is obsessively combing through Palin’s lipstick purchases dating back to her days in high school, American’s get Nada from the Times on Obama’s past connections to a man who bombed the Pentagon, except Obama’s word.
Now that is journalism 101 biased to the 10th. The adage is: If ur mother says she loves u check it out!
NOT, If Obama says he doesn’t know a radical homegrown terrorist...., despite the fact they served as members of the same board btw 1999 and 2002, despite the fact the Ayers hosted a fundraiser for Obama at his home, despite the fact that they lived within blocks of each other both in New York and Chicago, and haunt the small liberal circles…well then... TAKE HIM AT HIS WORD. If Obama says he doesn’t believe the same things as HIS GOOD Friend Father entitled white women-hater Phleger, the racist and sexist pigman, LET IT GO.

There is deep shame for true journalists this election, those commited to giving the public the information they need to make an informed choice. Instead we watch as the folks at the top of the Masthead--MEN--give America a re-education progarm worthy of Mr. Mao himself!
