What? Me Biased?
This is the title Nicholas D. Kristof ‘s op/ed published in the Times on Oct.30th 2008
In it Kristof says:
“For the last year and a half, a team of psychology professors has been conducting remarkable experiments on how Americans view Barack Obama through the prism of race.
The scholars used a common research technique, the implicit association test, to measure whether people regarded Mr. Obama and other candidates as more foreign or more American. They found that research subjects — particularly when primed to think of Mr. Obama as a black candidate — subconsciously considered him less American than either Hillary Clinton or John McCain.”

Now that sounds damning until one applies some reason. Perhaps it is not that Obama is black that he’s viewed as less American than Clinton or McCain but perhaps it is all the troubling signposts Mr. Obama himself has set up.

Never mind this picture of Obama next to Clinton and others with his hands firmly clasped over his groin vs Clinton’s hand over heart as the Pledge of Allegiance is said. Never mind Michele and her infamous "For the first time in my adult lifetime, I'm proud of my country," remark. Never mind that Obama has said American is no longer a Christian nation, Never mind his spread the wealth comments that bring to mind Mr. Hugo Chavez over George Washington or his "bitter" Americans comments, Never mind the flap over O’s refusal to put that flag pin on his chest and his open-armed approach to illegal foreign donations to his campaign. Nevermind all the below:

"And no candidate for president has had more problematic associations. Barack Obama's first major financial backer was Antoin "Tony" Rezko, currently awaiting sentencing on corruption charges. For nearly 20 years Mr. Obama attended services where the Rev. Jeremiah Wright preached hatred of the United States, and of white people. The radical group ACORN has been committing voter registration fraud on a massive scale. Mr. Obama taught classes for ACORN organizers, and represented the group in a lawsuit against the state of Illinois. The most significant managerial responsibility Barack Obama has ever had was as chairman of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, a project conceived of by unrepentant domestic terrorist William Ayers."

Nevermind all the things that say Obama has been his own undoing in terms of patriotic statements and associations… nevermind all that… rather all white Americans are outright bigots and racists. Obama could pretty much wear the Flag as a diaper and the Press would still pound home the message that his unpatriotic image is the result of his skin color not his deeds.

The press has wielded the club of racism over Amerian’s heads this whole election season, but never more so when Obama’s poll numbers tighten.

Like it or not, Americans are justified in the questions over just how American Obama is. Will he put the interests of the US above the interests of all others? His science Team suggests a very global mission more in line with a former president than a sitting one, and his prior statements on overseas funding may seem worrisome to many. Will his humanitarian issues towards other continents and peoples trump what may be best for U.S. national interests? These are unknowns, but rightly asked questions, given Obama’s troubling associations. That NOT GOD BLESS American but God Damn America troubles even this agnostic.

Now for the feminist in me…here is the Hillary Hilarious portion of Kristof’s piece:

Femisex to NYTimes and Mr. kristof: Why incidental? Why are women so incidental? An older person is on the ticket and a woman as well. Why not full throttle to stamp out those biases? Well, the Times has not openly propped up bias against the elderly in this campaign, but as surely as the sun shines the Times has worked to engender sexism against both Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin—women seeking Alpha status.

Here is one single but telling example of Times writers and editors bias against a women seeking high office: After her SNL performance, Missy misogynist Alessandra Stanley (and bff to Ol' Dowdy) said that Palin was just “delightful’ while being “ogled by Alec Baldwin” and then spent the following grafs in her story to end with this thought: “One thing everybody can agree on is that Gov. Sarah Palin is qualified---to someday host he own television show.”

Translation: That Ludicrous statement is a perfect example of Kristoff’s unexplored American bias against women seeking powerful positions…lard them with demeaning sexist comments and give them their own reality TV show.
