Weekend Edition –Sexist Funnies by, M. A. Liginter

Missy Maureen Dowd, ever the gal to punish gals, wrote an op/ed this past week titled “Cool Hand Luke.”. In it Maureen gave tribute to Paul Newman, the guy everyone loved not least of all Missy Maureen. (words Missy D used to describe Paul Newman: “shrewdness, humility, decency, generosity, class”

Ok great. But …Maureen couldn’t stop there, couldn’t give a simple tribute and be done. Nope, Dowd, took the opportunity of Newman’s death to take a swipe at his wife Joanne Woodward; Dowd used Newman’s death to showcase her own pathological misogyny.

Paul and Joanne had a long and by most reports a very happy marriage, and Dowd mentions this just prior to shredding Ms. Woodward, telling readers that the accomplished actress was a jealous, angry, manipulative women who begrudged her husband his success, needed lots of therapy, and gasp….refused to grant Dowd an interview way back in the 80s to dish dirt on her hubby. Then Dowd gives the coup de grace—she tells readers that Newman “appreciated” Joanne.

I can’t think of a soul who’d want Major Misogyny Dowd to tell millions of readers that their husband of 50 years “appreciated” her, like, say one appreciates a good cup of coffee or handy decorator—the example that Dowd gives in her disturbing column.

Poor sad Dowdy. But imagine how Mr. Newman might feel to know he was so brutally used by Dowd to smear the women he loved these many many years.

For you Mr. Newman, I cull this quote of urs from Wikipedia:
When asked about infidelity, he {Newman} quipped, "Why go out for hamburger when you have steak at home?"

Next best sad funny:
On Thursday, the New York Times op/ed page did a roundup of questions to ask either Palin or Biden during the debate. The asked “people with knowledge of the vice-presidency, the candidates, and their records to suggest questions they’d like to hear answered” during the debate.
Guess who they asked? Surprise, surprise, 10, count EM, ten, men and One little ol’ woman.

Lurking within every top editor at the Times runs a deep mistrust of women and power, even allowing women to ask Power questions is taboo.

"Slouching towards

"Slouching towards irrelevance"?

I suggest they've already fallen into irrelevance, but don't sense it or won't acknowledge it.
