When will Republicans open up the tent to social libs/fiscal conservatives?

GOP needs to turn itself upside down

Over the holiday, I clipped and saved Letters to the Editor (Wall Street Journal) on Tues. Dec. 29th. Of note, from Marion Zola of Beverly Hills, Ca.: “Michael Petrilli is 1000% right when he writes about the need for Republicans to embrace those who have “a progressive lifestyle but not progressive politics….I am definitely a pro-choice women. What the Republicans don’t realize is that their “base” who are anti-choice have no one else to vote for but a Republican. They are not going to go left and change parties because of this one issue.”

This is important. Ms. Zola states that she is very willing to vote Republican as an Independent despite the anti-choice issue. What she hits on is the issue of the many women who vote democrat on this “one issue” despite leaning toward center right fiscal issues. It is beyond time for the Republican party to return to its roots of the party for women’s rights. It was only a few short decades ago when reason on the issue of women's rights and equality was a Republican claim! Time was...Republicans were for the ERA while Donkeys brayed their outrage at equality for women. Then came...Roe v. Wade and... the whackyjobs Luddites who wanted to keep men's seed safe from women's rights. As If women are going back to being slaves to the seed!
Oh...wait....Obama has a Luddite anti-woman plan here: disallow abortion coverage from virtually all insurance plans and ...but I digress.

Also of note in response to the same article (Whole Foods Republicans,op/ed Dec.14th) J.J. Weinstein of New York writes: “The young urban professional shopping alongside me at a Manhattan Whole Foods is as afraid of the “Two T’s” (Taxes and Terrorism) as I am but cannot bear to vote for the party that makes issue such as abortion and gay rights as visible as issues such as our economy, or paychecks and our national security.”

Geeeeez it is so past midnight for the GOP to give up hammering women. (Trust me, the DNC has a whole Obama-borne legion of “progressives” to take that up that mantle for them!) And for good measure, lay off the gays--GOP. The worst they will do is coordinate your outfits, and if the GOP stops bashing gays (think Cheney, Ted Olson, etc.) think of all those well-paid homosexuals who will now consider voting with their wallets vs. their ostracized marital lives!

Leave bedroom patrol and uterine patrol to the wacky bedroom KGB wingnuts with 12 fingers and let fiscal soundness ring forth.
I would also make the comment that as a fiscal centrist I consider myself a progressive who thinks drag us down the hellhole of NannyState Everything is REGRESSIVE.

I for one feel emancipated by

I for one feel emancipated by this Obama Machine. If this is what the Democratic Machine under Obama and his Chicago hoodlums are willing to do to choice, I am finally free to wag my finger and say NA Ah, when liberal dudes tell us women that we HAVE to vote democratic because if we don't abortion rights will disappear.

Look in the mirror dudes!

This Coakley race is heating

This Coakley race is heating up. Obama is turning out to be very bad for women, indeed!

It is painful to see so many

It is painful to see so many republican candidates tow the party line on abortion. They have to or they will never stand a chance in a national election. Palin talks the talk but she never walked the walk on abortion in her state. Republican women are much more likely to buck the Gipper on this issue.

I am an Independent who would

I am an Independent who would be MUCH more willing to vote GOP if choice was an option in the party!
